Getting around Seychelles
Seychelles drive on the left. Mahé and Praslin have cheap, reliable buses; La Digue has almost no cars, and there the bicycle is the means of transport.
- Driving side
- Left-hand traffic
- Driving licence
- national licence, usually 21 and over
- Buses
- Mahé and Praslin, cheap and reliable
Roads on Mahé are narrow, winding and in places steep; speed limits are low and enforced. If driving on the left on roads like that is not for you, buses and taxis work well — and on Praslin they work anyway. A hire car earns its keep mainly in the south of Mahé, where the bus runs less often.

Three islands in seven nights?
It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
