When to go
Seychelles in September
In September the trade wind eases and the European holidays end. Conditions still match August; the beaches no longer do.
- Wind phase
- Southeast trade wind
- Calm coast
- Northwest-facing: Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio, Côte d'Or
- Crowding
- Shoulder season
September is the best compromise between weather and quiet in the whole second half of the year. If you are not tied to school holidays, there is little reason to pick another month.
Southeast trade wind
From May to September the southeast trade wind blows. It is drier and a few degrees fresher, the sea builds against the southeastern coasts, and seaweed collects there at times. The bays that open to the northwest — Beau Vallon on Mahé, Anse Lazio on Praslin — sit in the lee and are the calmest.
Temperatures move between roughly 24 and 31 °C all year. We do not quote rainfall totals or water temperatures to a decimal place — they vary by station and by year, and we do not publish figures we cannot stand behind.
Before you book
Three islands in seven nights?
It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
