When to go
Seychelles in August
August resembles July: windy, dry, busy. It is the best month for sailing and hiking and the most trying one for anybody who simply wants to swim.
- Wind phase
- Southeast trade wind
- Calm coast
- Northwest-facing: Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio, Côte d'Or
- Crowding
- High season
Prices and occupancy peak in August. If you have any flexibility, move to September — the same conditions with markedly fewer people.
Southeast trade wind
From May to September the southeast trade wind blows. It is drier and a few degrees fresher, the sea builds against the southeastern coasts, and seaweed collects there at times. The bays that open to the northwest — Beau Vallon on Mahé, Anse Lazio on Praslin — sit in the lee and are the calmest.
Temperatures move between roughly 24 and 31 °C all year. We do not quote rainfall totals or water temperatures to a decimal place — they vary by station and by year, and we do not publish figures we cannot stand behind.
Before you book
Three islands in seven nights?
It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
