When to go
Seychelles in July
July is the windiest and coolest month — and, because of the European holidays, one of the busiest. Seaweed lies along the east coasts while the northwest stays calm.
- Wind phase
- Southeast trade wind
- Calm coast
- Northwest-facing: Beau Vallon, Anse Lazio, Côte d'Or
- Crowding
- High season
If you travel in July, choose the property by the coast rather than by the price. A house on the east coast costs less at this time of year, and you notice why every day.
Southeast trade wind
From May to September the southeast trade wind blows. It is drier and a few degrees fresher, the sea builds against the southeastern coasts, and seaweed collects there at times. The bays that open to the northwest — Beau Vallon on Mahé, Anse Lazio on Praslin — sit in the lee and are the calmest.
Temperatures move between roughly 24 and 31 °C all year. We do not quote rainfall totals or water temperatures to a decimal place — they vary by station and by year, and we do not publish figures we cannot stand behind.
Before you book
Three islands in seven nights?
It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
