Customs and cash in Seychelles
Seychelles customs and cash rules in short: 2 litres of spirits plus 2 litres of wine or beer, 200 cigarettes or 250 grams of tobacco — duty-free for personal use, not for resale.
- Duty-free alcohol
- 2 L spirits (>16%) + 2 L wine/beer (≤16%)
- Duty-free tobacco
- 200 cigarettes or 250 g tobacco
- Must be declared from
- ≈ SCR 50.000 (≈ 3.500 USD)
- Local currency, in/out
- SCR 2.000
Cash or equivalent payment instruments worth SCR 50,000 or more (roughly USD 3,500) must be declared on arrival — at the red channel, with proof of where the money came from. Local currency itself carries an import/export limit of SCR 2,000. Prohibited items include weapons and ammunition, products from protected species such as coral or tortoiseshell, narcotics, counterfeit currency and left-hand-drive vehicles. Personal items beyond alcohol and tobacco carry a further duty-free value limit; ask us or the Seychelles Revenue Commission directly for the current figure, since sources disagree on the exact number.

Before you book
Three islands in seven nights?
It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
