Moving to Seychelles: residence and workation

For a longer stay there are two real, official routes: the Residence Permit through the Immigration and Civil Status office, or the Workation Retreat Programme for remote workers. A dedicated retiree visa category does not exist.

Residence Permit, 5 years
SCR 150.000 + SCR 75.000 (Partner)
Minimum stay
5 days per 12 months
Workation Permit, duration
1–12 months
Workation Permit, fee
≈ 45 €
Lead time
at least 60 days before arrival

The Residence Permit does not require proof of assets or a pension — it requires a family connection to Seychelles or a demonstrable contribution to the country's economic, social or cultural life, so anyone hoping to immigrate on pension income alone finds no category built for that, even though a bank guarantee of at least SCR 20,000 is required. Permanent Residence, which has its own conditions, allows work without a separate Gainful Occupation Permit and lets the holder buy property at half the Sanction fee. For digital nomads the Workation Retreat Programme is the more direct route: apply as a Visitors Workation Permit plus Health Travel Authorization, with accommodation offering internet and a workspace, and health insurance for the whole stay.

Official rules and thresholds can change. Re-check them with the responsible authority shortly before you rely on them.

Three islands in seven nights?

It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
