How safe are Seychelles?
Seychelles counts as a safe destination; violent crime against travellers is rare. What does happen is theft — from hire cars, from unlocked accommodation, and from the beach while you are in the water.
- Crime
- violent crime rare, theft does happen
- Cyclones
- outside the cyclone belt
In practice: leave nothing valuable in the car, not even briefly, and take to the beach only what you can afford to lose. Seychelles also sit largely outside the Indian Ocean cyclone belt — unlike Mauritius and Réunion, cyclones are not a routine travel risk here. Your own country's current assessment is with the bodies named below; that is the reference, not this page.

Before you book
Three islands in seven nights?
It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
