January — Seychellen

When to go

Seychelles in January

January is the wettest month of the year, but the rain comes in short heavy bursts and rarely lasts all day. The islands are as green as they get, the sea is warm, and after the first week of January the properties noticeably empty out.

Take the second half of January and you get high-season weather at noticeably lower prices. Plan the day so the afternoon stays flexible — then a shower is a break rather than a lost day.

Northwest monsoon

From December to March the wind turns northwest. It is warmer and more humid, and rain usually arrives as a short heavy shower rather than a grey day. The coastal question now inverts: the southeastern bays are the sheltered ones, and those open to the northwest take the swell.

Temperatures move between roughly 24 and 31 °C all year. We do not quote rainfall totals or water temperatures to a decimal place — they vary by station and by year, and we do not publish figures we cannot stand behind.

Three islands in seven nights?

It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
