Islands
Mahé
Every flight lands on Mahé, and most travellers give it too little time. It carries mountains over 900 metres, the country's only real town, and a dozen beaches with nobody on them on a Tuesday morning.
The main island — busy, green, varied
Mahé is where you land and find your feet. The north around Beau Vallon is the busiest stretch in Seychelles — restaurants, dive centres, a beach that fills up in the evening. The south is the opposite: Anse Intendance and Petite Anse sit behind hills, and the surf there is serious in the southeast monsoon. If you have two weeks, do not treat Mahé as merely the arrival island.
Before 1770, nobody lived here permanently. The Seychelles were among the last large, uninhabited island groups on Earth, until French settlers arrived with enslaved workers from Mauritius and planted the first estate on Sainte Anne.

FAQ
Common questions
How many islands should we combine?
Two for seven nights, three for ten to fourteen. Every island change costs you half a day, and transfer days fall right in the middle of the trip. Squeeze three islands into a week and you spend the holiday moving luggage.
Do we need a visa?
Seychelles requires no tourist visa from any nationality. You need a valid passport, a confirmed return ticket, proof of accommodation, travel insurance and an online Travel Authorisation completed before departure. Please re-check the current requirements shortly before travelling — they can change.
When is the best time to travel?
There is no bad month, only different conditions. April and October are the calmest shoulder months with the clearest water. May to September brings the southeast trade wind: fresher, windier, seaweed on some east coasts. December to March is wetter and greener, but emptier and cheaper. What matters is less the month than picking the right coast for it.
Before you book
Three islands in seven nights?
It is the most common mistake in Seychelles. Every island change costs half a day, and the transfer days land in the middle of the trip. One conversation beforehand prevents it.
